Neobiani || Marinated Grilled Beef Slices, 宫廷烤牛肉, 宮廷烤牛肉, 宮中焼き肉, 너비아니 2

Neobiani is a traditional Korean dish known for its elegant presentation and delicate flavor. It involves thinly sliced beef marinated in a sweet and savory sauce, then grilled to perfection.

Ingredients (serves 3):

  • 800g Beef (such as sirloin or tenderloin)
  • For the marinade:
    • 5 tablespoons Soy sauce
    • 1 1/2 tablespoons Sugar
    • 2 tablespoons Minced garlic
    • 3 tablespoons Minced green onion
    • 2 tablespoons Mirin (sweet rice wine)
    • Sesame oil, black pepper, and any other seasonings to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the beef:
    • Slice the beef thinly against the grain.
  2. Make the marinade:
    • Combine all the marinade ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
  3. Marinate the beef:
    • Add the sliced beef to the marinade and mix thoroughly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Prepare the grill:
    • Preheat a grill or griddle.
  5. Grill the beef:
    • Use tongs to arrange a portion of the marinated beef on the grill, spreading it out into a thin layer.
    • Use a second grill or griddle to cover the beef, making it easier to flip.
    • Grill until cooked to your desired level of doneness, flipping occasionally.
    • To prevent the beef from sticking to the grill, lift the grill and gently tap it to release the beef.
  6. Serve:
    • Once cooked, carefully slide the beef onto a plate.

Tips:

  • Choosing the right beef: Sirloin and tenderloin are popular choices for grilling, but you can also use other cuts like ribeye or flank steak.
  • Marinating time: The longer you marinate the beef, the more flavorful it will be. However, marinating for too long can make the beef tough.
  • Grill temperature: For the best results, grill the beef over medium-high heat.
  • Resting the meat: Allow the cooked beef to rest for a few minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.
