Dried shrimp stir-fried and mixed with soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil in a preheated pan. Garlic scapes or shishito pepper can be added as well, according to one’s taste.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dried shrimp (mareunsaeu)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the dried shrimp:
    • Rinse the dried shrimp under cold water to remove any impurities.
    • Soak the shrimp in warm water for about 10 minutes, or until they are softened.
    • Drain the shrimp and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Heat the oil:
    • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
  3. Stir-fry the garlic:
    • Add the minced garlic to the hot oil and stir-fry for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
  4. Add the dried shrimp:
    • Add the dried shrimp to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, or until they are crispy and evenly coated with oil.
  5. Season the shrimp:
    • Add the red pepper flakes, salt, and sugar to the skillet and stir-fry for another minute, or until the flavors are well combined.
  6. Serve:
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • For a spicier dish, add more red pepper flakes.
  • You can adjust the amount of salt and sugar to your taste.
  • Dried shrimp can be found in Asian grocery stores.
