Gamjajorim is a simple yet delicious Korean side dish featuring braised potatoes. It’s a popular dish that’s often served with other side dishes and a bowl of rice.

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • Soy sauce
  • Sugar
  • Garlic, minced
  • Sesame oil
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Boil the Potatoes:
    • Boil the potatoes in salted water until they are tender but still firm.
    • Drain the potatoes and set aside.
  2. Make the Sauce:
    • In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar, garlic, and sesame oil.
  3. Braise the Potatoes:
    • In a large skillet or pot, heat a little oil.
    • Add the potatoes and coat them with the sauce.
    • Add enough water to cover the potatoes.
    • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the sauce has thickened and the potatoes are glazed.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve hot with other Korean dishes.

Tips:

  • For a spicier dish, you can add a little red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • You can also add other vegetables, such as carrots or onions, to the dish.
  • Serve with a side of kimchi or other Korean side dishes.
