Galbimandu || Pork Rib Dumpling, 排骨饺子, 排骨餃子, カルビ餃子, 갈비만두 1

Galbimandu is a delightful Korean dumpling that features a savory pork filling inspired by the flavors of grilled galbi (marinated short ribs).

Here’s how you can make Galbimandu:

Ingredients:

For the filling:

  • Ground pork
  • Soy sauce
  • Sugar
  • Sesame oil
  • Garlic, minced
  • Ginger, minced
  • Green onions, chopped
  • Optional: A pinch of red pepper flakes for a bit of spice

For the wrappers:

  • Store-bought dumpling wrappers (mandu ppi)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the filling:
    • In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients for the filling. Mix well until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  2. Assemble the dumplings:
    • Place a dumpling wrapper on a clean surface.
    • Add a spoonful of the filling to the center of the wrapper.
    • Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water.
    • Fold the wrapper over the filling, sealing the edges tightly to form a dumpling.
  3. Cook the dumplings:
    • Boiling: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Gently add the dumplings to the boiling water. Once they float to the surface, cook for a few more minutes until they are cooked through.
    • Steaming: Place the dumplings in a steamer basket and steam for about 10-15 minutes, or until they are cooked through.
    • Frying: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the dumplings until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  4. Serving:
    • Serve the dumplings hot with a dipping sauce, such as soy sauce mixed with vinegar and a bit of chili pepper flakes.
