Dallaejeon is a delicious Korean pancake made with wild chives. It’s a seasonal dish, often enjoyed in the spring when wild chives are fresh and abundant.

Ingredients:

  • A bunch of wild chives   
  • All-purpose flour
  • Water
  • Egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chives:
    • Wash the wild chives thoroughly and chop them finely.
  2. Make the Batter:
    • In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour, water, and egg to make a batter.
    • Add the chopped wild chives to the batter and mix well.
  3. Fry the Pancakes:
    • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
    • Add a spoonful of batter to the hot pan and spread it out into a thin circle.
    • Cook until golden brown on both sides.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve the Dallaejeon hot with dipping sauce (a mixture of soy sauce and vinegar).

Tips:

  • For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of red pepper powder to the batter.
  • You can also add other ingredients to the batter, such as shrimp or vegetables.
  • Serve Dallaejeon with makgeolli (Korean rice wine) for a traditional Korean pairing.
