Cheese Gimbap is a popular variation of the classic Korean dish, kimbap. It incorporates a slice of cheese into the filling, adding a creamy and savory element.

Ingredients:

  • Cooked short-grain rice
  • Dried seaweed sheets (kim)
  • Carrots, julienned
  • Spinach, blanched and chopped
  • Omelette, cut into strips
  • Ham, sliced
  • Pickled radish
  • Cheese slices
  • Sesame oil
  • Soy sauce

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the filling: Cook the rice and season it with a little sesame oil and soy sauce. Prepare the vegetables and omelette as desired.
  2. Assemble the kimbap:
    • Lay a sheet of seaweed on a bamboo mat.
    • Spread a thin layer of rice over the seaweed, leaving a small gap at the top.
    • Add a slice of cheese, along with the other fillings, to the rice.
    • Roll the seaweed tightly, using the bamboo mat to help you shape it.
    • Cut the rolled kimbap into bite-sized pieces.

Tips:

  • Rice: Make sure the rice is slightly warm and slightly sticky for easy rolling.
  • Fillings: You can customize the fillings to your liking. Some popular additions include fish cakes, crab sticks, or avocado.
  • Cheese: Use a mild cheese like mozzarella or American cheese for a creamy texture.
  • Cutting: Use a sharp knife to cut the kimbap cleanly.
