Chamchigimbap is a popular Korean dish that combines the simplicity of kimbap with the savory flavor of tuna. It’s a versatile and delicious meal that can be enjoyed as a snack or a light lunch.

Ingredients:

  • Cooked short-grain rice
  • Dried seaweed sheets (kim)
  • Canned tuna in oil, drained
  • Mayonnaise
  • Soy sauce
  • Sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds
  • Carrots, julienned
  • Spinach, blanched and chopped
  • Omelet, cut into strips

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the filling: In a bowl, combine the tuna, mayonnaise, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well.
  2. Assemble the kimbap:
    • Lay a sheet of seaweed on a bamboo mat.
    • Spread a thin layer of rice over the seaweed, leaving a small gap at the top.
    • Add a strip of carrot, spinach, and omelet to the rice.
    • Place a spoonful of the tuna mixture on top of the vegetables.
    • Roll the seaweed tightly, using the bamboo mat to help you shape it.
    • Cut the rolled kimbap into bite-sized pieces.
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

Tips:

  • Rice: Make sure the rice is slightly warm and slightly sticky for easy rolling.
  • Filling: You can customize the filling with other ingredients like pickled radish, cucumber, or fish cakes.
  • Cutting: Use a sharp knife to cut the kimbap cleanly.
  • Serving: Serve chamchigimbap with kimchi or other side dishes.
