Chamnamul is a popular Korean mountain vegetable known for its unique aroma and slightly bitter taste. It’s often enjoyed as a side dish, typically seasoned with sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, and a touch of red pepper flakes.

Ingredients:

  • Fresh chamnamul
  • Soy sauce
  • Sesame oil
  • Minced garlic
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the chamnamul: Wash the chamnamul thoroughly to remove any dirt or insects.
  2. Blanch the chamnamul: Boil a pot of salted water. Add the chamnamul and blanch for a few seconds until it turns bright green.
  3. Drain and cool: Drain the blanched chamnamul in cold water to stop the cooking process and preserve its vibrant color.
  4. Season the chamnamul: In a bowl, combine the blanched chamnamul with soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. Mix well to coat the vegetables evenly.
  5. Serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds over the seasoned chamnamul and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Freshness: Use fresh chamnamul for the best flavor and texture.
  • Blanching time: Don’t overcook the chamnamul, as it can become mushy.
  • Seasoning: Adjust the seasoning to your taste. You can add more or less soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes.
